It doesn’t matter if it’s her first win (which this was) or if a horse is highly decorated with black-type wins, any time your horse crosses the finish line first it’s a great feeling.
And if she happens to be trailing the leader down the backstretch but shows a little spark in the far turn, that’s when you really want to sit up and take note. Something special might just happen.
Guinevere, a 3-year-old filly owned by MyRacehorse, Gainesway Stable and R.T Racing Stable, trained by Wesley Ward, and ridden by Walter Rodriguez, broke her maiden on August 2nd, 2024 at Balterra Park in Cincinnati. It was her fourth career start, and prior to this she had only been able to muster a single third-place finish.
But you stick with them. And stick with them. And move them to where they can find their level of competition (hey, not all horses are good enough to win a Triple Crown, although Guinevere’s dad, Justify, did just that in 2018) and you hope for the best. And hope they don’t get claimed in the process.
And one of these times — fingers crossed — they will hit the finish line first.
