By now you probably know that every now and then your iPhone or Android phone asks you to update to the latest and greatest version of their operating system.
You should also know that it’s NOT just so that you get the latest look-and-feel or the newest emoji characters.
Very often these updates come with important security patches that help to keep your phone secure from hacks or malware. Similar to your laptop needing Windows Updates from time to time, your iPhone is telling you to do the same thing in order to keep it safe and running smoothly.
When you see the Notifications to download and update the operating system you should do so. There was a reason the system had to be patched or updated, and you want to keep your info safe.
This week Apple released Apple iOS 16.5.1 (c). It was a bit of a roller-coaster to get to this version after security flaws were found in previous iPhone releases. Sometimes what is believed to be safe is exploited fairly quickly, and that’s not always a bad thing assuming it wasn’t YOU who might’ve been hacked. Every new hack creates visibility to a flaw, and when dealing with human error there’s almost always going to be a flaw.
