If art is your thing, here are some potential destinations to visit in 2023. If art’s not your thing, this year is an opportunity to reconsider and give it a shot.

One of the greatest personal journeys I’ve experienced the past ten years or so is learning to better appreciate art — in every form it takes from paintings, photography, sculptures, music, literature, theater, architecture, et al. Of course there are the classics and we have to give credit to the masters of past centuries, but I’ve really come to enjoy more modern and abstract pieces. The kind of art that makes you say “what were they thinking?”

This question really unlocked the door for me because every great artist has a plan, a goal, a message, a reason. Rather than simply looking at it, I’ve tried to learn or understand the reason behind it, which has led to much greater appreciation. Politics, daily life, love, loss, war, happiness, contentedness, sadness, nature, family, travel, rage, revelation, satire, silliness, and many many reasons — all at the discretion of the artist.

Open your mind… Open your world… Appreciate… Learn… Enjoy!
